Oral Hygiene Instruction

Oral hygiene is the practice of taking care of your teeth, gums, and mouth to maintain good oral health. Good oral hygiene is important in preventing tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health problems. The following are some tips for maintaining good oral hygiene:

1. Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
2. Floss daily to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth and along the gumline.
3. Use an antiseptic mouthwash to kill bacteria and freshen your breath.
4. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles become frayed.
5. Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings.
6. Limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks.
7. Chew sugar-free gum after meals to stimulate saliva production and neutralize acid in the mouth.
8. Quit smoking or using tobacco products, as they can increase the risk of gum disease and oral cancer.
9. Drink plenty of water to help rinse away food particles and keep your mouth hydrated.

By following these oral hygiene tips and visiting your dentist regularly, you can help maintain good oral health and prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health problems. Contact our office for an appointment – we can provide oral hygiene teaching personalized for you!
